Limnn Active: workforce productivity analytics

What Active collects (and never collects), how consent and disclosure work, how to deploy the optional desktop app and what each view shows.

8 min read

Limnn Active provides workforce productivity analytics and time & attendance intelligence. It measures how time is spent, not what people do inside their apps: hours, active versus idle time, time by application and website domain, and workload, so teams can plan capacity and work at a healthy pace. It is consent-based and transparent: admins configure it, the policy is disclosed to employees, and every employee can see their own data.

What Active collects

  • The foreground app's name and its category.
  • The website domain when a browser is in front (for example youtube.com), never the full address.
  • One-minute samples of whether the computer is active or idle.
  • Device information for the device list: computer name and OS version.
  • Clock-in, break and clock-out times from the time clock.

What Active never collects

  • Screen images or screen recordings: Active has no screen-capture code at all.
  • Typed text or clipboard contents.
  • Window or page titles, full URLs, file names or document contents.
  • Chat, email or message content.

Consent

Each person accepts a notice explaining what Active collects before any activity data is collected, and consent is recorded per person. Managed (MDM) rollouts use an organization-level consent policy instead, which you must disclose to employees before rollout. Admins choose which roles and people are included, anyone can be excluded, and each person can see exactly what their manager sees in My activity. The Privacy page in Active explains all of this to employees.

Deploy the desktop agent

  1. 1Open Active > Setup as an admin. The stepper walks you through: turn on Active, choose who is tracked, install the agent, receive the first data and assign every device to a person.
  2. 2Install the desktop app with one of two methods. Invite employees sends people a link to the download page for the Windows (10/11) or macOS (12+) app. Managed (MDM) deployment gives you an enrollment token and a configuration file for your device-management tool; disclose the policy to employees before you deploy.
  3. 3Wait for the first sample, then open Live to see data flowing.
  4. 4Assign each device to its owner in Active > Devices.
  5. 5Set shift and overtime rules, app categories, alert rules and any optional app rules (for example, blocking specific apps on enrolled devices) in Configuration.

The views

  • Insights: Live (who is clocked in and active now), Team pulse (hours, focus time and output for the people you manage), Summary (trends, utilization and capacity), Apps & sites, and Teams (compare teams).
  • Time: Time & shifts (shifts, hours, overtime and payroll export) and Wellbeing (workload balance, after-hours work and burnout signals).
  • Admin: Alerts, Models (Cortex productivity models weighted per role), Devices, Privacy and Setup.
Managers only see the people who report to them; admins see the workspace. The web time clock works without the desktop agent, so you can start with time and attendance and add activity later.
Workplace data collection is regulated differently by country. Review your local requirements and your works-council or employee-notice obligations before rollout.
