Credit governance lets administrators decide who can spend Cortex credits, how much, and on what, so a single busy team cannot drain the shared wallet. It sits on top of the live wallet and ledger at /settings/credits.
What consumes credits
- Cortex chat and insights in any module.
- Cortex Analyst queries in /reports/analyst.
- LMS course generation.
- Agent runs in the Cortex Agent Hub (/cortex), including voice agents.
Cortex Agent Swarms is an add-on priced per outcome: a $38.02 monthly unlock per workspace that includes 50 resolutions, then $0.77 per resolution and $0.19 per approved draft. Escalations to a human are not charged.
Cost varies by the effort setting and the size of the request: deeper reasoning and larger budgets cost more credits than a quick answer.
Setting budgets
- 1Open /settings/credits and go to the governance section.
- 2Choose a team or scope and set a period budget (for example monthly credits).
- 3Choose the behavior at the limit: warn admins, or block further spend for that team until the next period or an admin raises it.
- 4Set alert thresholds (such as 80 percent) so owners hear before work stops.
- 5Save and watch the live usage figures against the budget.
Reviewing usage
The ledger attributes each spend to a feature, a user and a team. Use it to spot heavy automation, to justify budgets and to identify a runaway agent quickly.
Only admins with billing rights can change budgets. Changes are recorded in /settings/audit.
Because insight surfaces never auto-run, most spend is intentional. Scheduled agents and playbooks are the usual source of unexpected consumption, so review them first.
