Flows (/flows) is one automation canvas for contacts, leads, deals and tickets. A flow starts from a trigger, filters with entry conditions and runs steps in order, with waits and branches. Simpler if-this-then-that rules still live under Simple rules (/settings/automations).
Triggers
- Leads and tickets: when a record is created or updated.
- Deals: when a deal is created, updated or changes stage.
- Contacts: enrolled manually, when they join a segment, or when an event happens.
- Entry conditions narrow the trigger, for example ticket priority is URGENT or lead status is NEW.
Steps
- Communicate: send email, send an in-app notification.
- Records: create task, rotate or set owner, set property, set custom field, add tag, hand off to sales.
- Cortex AI step: have Cortex read the record and its recent timeline and write a note or fill a field.
- Connect: send a webhook.
Build a flow with Cortex
- 1Open /flows and choose Build with Cortex (or Create flow to start from a blank canvas).
- 2Write what should happen in plain language, for example: when an urgent ticket is created, assign it to the on-call agent and notify the support lead.
- 3Cortex drafts the object, trigger, entry conditions and steps on the canvas.
- 4Review every step. Use Ask Cortex to revise; it keeps your entry conditions unless you ask to change the trigger.
- 5Save as draft, test on a sample record, then turn the flow on.
